Hako is my absolute favorite for a satisfying meal, especially when it comes to their katsu. The portions are so generous that one of the set meals is easily enough to share. Their adagasgi tofu is a standout, with the perfect texture and flavor that keeps me coming back. While the in-house service is great, I usually opt for takeout because the food comes in these beautiful, well-presented boxes. (I always forget to take a photo of my food here because I'm so excited to eat it)

The portions are HUGE! So huge, we could have definitely just shared one plate but I was craving udon. The tonkatsu plate definitely can feed two easily and we were too hungry for a picture but the size and portion is very consistent with the other pictures posted. The miso soup was a little chalky but the meat was very tender and a good ratio of panko to meat. The udon was sooooo hot, I burnt my tongue immediately but worth it because the broth was rich and the udon was chewy and soft. The wait was a little long but understandable since it is a smaller restaurant. Our estimated wait time was 30 minutes but we were seated after 15! The service was attentive and our waitress kept checking on us. They do a great job with turn around since the host keeps a close eye on when you're finished so we didn't even have to ask for the check. We have only ordered to go previously but definitely worth coming in since it the tonkatsu taste much fresher and crisper so definitely worth coming in to try for the first time!

I haven't been back to Hako for a long time. I'm glad to see that they are doing well. There was a short wait when we arrived on Friday around 6pm. We got the agedashi tofu, curry tonkatsu and Alaska roll. Portion was great, food tasted good, and service was attentive. The agedashi tofu was a little off- it felt like it should be fried a little longer. The tofu inside was somewhat cold, and it kept falling into pieces when I tried to pick it up. Other than that, the experience was great and I would love to visit more often.

I usually order delivery from Hako, but today is the first time dining in. Highly recommend getting the tonkatsu and curry as it's really good (the pork cutlet goes well with the refreshing lettuce). One observation is the yumminess of delivered tonkatsu vs dined in tonkatsu is surprising negligible. Whatever they're doing to preserve the quality, I would think for 30-60 mins of delivery time, please keep it up! Staff is very friendly and ambiance is relaxing.

Remember this: The restaurant serves up some seriously tasty food with fantastic service. The Chicken Katsu is perfectly breaded and deliciously moist. Don't miss out!

Went here with a few of my friends after getting recommended this by my sister! The food came really fast and everything tasted really good/savory! Katsu was crunchy and the sauces are to die for. Would definitely come back again whenever I'm in the area :)

amazing place to dine at with a clean and welcoming environment. workers were quick and responsive, and catered to table with fast service. i definitely recommend the cheese katsu, which is so worth it for the generous portion served. was not expecting so much food, in addition to the sides and add ons provided. totally recommend, and will definitely stop by again!

Decided to check out Hako for a late lunch after running errands (3pm). There was no wait and the servers were quick. The restaurant is very bright and clean. Hako Tonkatsu - Large portion and I like that they give you pickled sides and salad. I added Spicy Curry (+$3), which I dont really recommend since it got overwhelming, and for an extra $3, I dont think it was worth it. Zaru Soba - Your typical cold noodles. I personally dont enjoy cold noodles, but my girlfriend liked it. I could see this place getting busy during rush hour so I'm glad I was able to experience it without a wait.

After a long day, me and the family decided to stop by Hako for dinner. This is not our first time at Hako, but like all previous visits, i can say that this is one of the best katsu places in Irvine. The chicken katsu was crispy and juicy and the curry was quite tasty (get the spicy version for a bit more kick). We were feeling extra hungry so we even started with some Agadashi Tofu and Potato Croquettes. Both were crispy and very delicious!

Food: 4.25. Came by around 2:30 pm on a Friday. Place is located in a shopping center. Place was moderately busy with only inside seating. They offer a fairly simple menu with katsu as their specialty. We were immediately greeted upon entering. We ordered the Curry Katsu and Cheese Katsu (recommended by server). We also ordered agedashi tofu and croquettes. Food came out timely and at the right temperature. Food presentation was very appealing. Tofu and croquettes were very good but need to be eaten quickly to enjoy the various textures. I ate some of the tofu and croquettes after finishing my katsu and they weren't as good. My cheese katsu was very good. It wasn't greasy. It was moist. It was tender and the coating was nice and crispy. I tried some of the curry katsu but preferred mine. Service was good. Ambiance was comfortable. Service: 4 Ambiance: 3.75 Value: 4
